SCHOOL BOARD
The Greek Orthodox Church of St. Demetrios operates three schools: Pythagoras Children’s Academy (PCA), a full-time parochial day school currently serving Preschool through fifth grade; Pythagoras Greek School (PGS), a Monday/Wednesday evening language and culture school; and Pythagoras Saturday Greek School (PSGS), a weekend language and culture school.
The St. Demetrios Pythagoras School Board is the governing body that oversees the operations of the parish’s schools together with the Proistamenos and the Parish Council. The School Board is made up of nine voting members, and one ex-officio member (the Proistamenos or head priest of the community). Members must be in good standing with the Church and are elected to two-year terms. School Board committees must be chaired by a School Board Members, and each member must serve a committee or other leadership role. The 2022-2024 School Board was elected in Summer 2022 and was sworn-in on August 1, 2022. The terms expire July 31, 2024.

Very Reverend Archimandrite Dionysios Anagnostopoulos
Very Reverend Archimandrite Dionysios Anagnostopoulos is the Protopresbyter of the Greek Orthodox Church of St. Demetrios.
He joined the parish of St. Demetrios in 2021. As Protopresbyter, Very Rev. Archimandrite Dionysios serves as ex-officio member of the School Board, as well as other organizations/ministries of the parish.
The Priest by virtue of his canonical ordination and assignment heads and administers the Parish and exercises on its behalf the priestly duties, which consist in shepherding the Parish entrusted to his care, directing its orderly life, preserving its unity and keeping it faithful to its divine purpose.

Alexander Kefaloukos
President
Alex has been a parishioner with St. Demetrios since high school. He graduated from Elmhurst College with a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Management. Alex is currently employed as a Police Officer with the City of Elmhurst. Alex currently lives in Lombard with his wife (Catie) and four kids (Mylie, Xander, Penelope, and Fiona). Xander and Penelope are both students at PCA.
Alex has previously served on a Board of Directors for an International Fraternity, as a chair-person for Walk for Hope (a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society), and as the Treasurer for the Fraternal Order of Police.
Maria Hamakioits
Secretary
Maria has earned a Master’s of Science in Nursing from McGill University and is currently the Director of Professional Practice and Development at Northwestern Medicine. In this role Maria oversees all aspect of ambulatory care nursing and over 25 years of clinical nursing and leadership experience, Maria brings a strong background of critical thinking, program development as well as a passion for being life-long learner, mentor and a love for travel.
Maria and her husband Frank are also passionate about keeping the Greek Orthodox faith at the heart of their family unit, and currently have amazing sons both attending PCA.
Georgia Giannos
Treasurer for PCA & P(S)GS
Georgia has earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Management from DePaul University and is currently an HRIS/Payroll Manager with more than 16 years of experience in the industry. She is a lifetime member of the St. Demetrios community and is looking forward to contributing to the continued betterment of our schools.
Georgia and her husband, Spiro, reside in Northbrook with their two children. Both their daughter and son are students of Pythagoras Children’s Academy attending the 1st grade and Preschool.

Angelo Georgacopoulos

Angelo has earned his Master’s Degree in School Counseling from Concordia University, his College Counseling Degree from the University of California in Los Angeles, and his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Angelo is also a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and works in the private psychology field. Angelo is in his 11th year as a School Counselor in the Naperville School District. Prior to that, he was also a Crisis Counselor at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Aside from his extensive work in the education field, Angelo has also been a Social Media Director for several successful businesses over a five year span. Angelo has been a part of the St. Demetrios community for 12 years. He has volunteered his time to the parish as a Basketball Coach for St. Demetrios of Elmhurst during the season, and also during Jr. Olympics. Angelo and his wife, Vicky, have two amazing children who currently attend Pythagoras Children’s Academy. |
